Grace R. Cartin

Grace R. Cartin, 88 a life long resident of Melrose, died January 11th at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle, her residence since 2007 following a long illness. Born in Melrose, daughter of the late Major William R. & Mabel Cushman Richards. 

She was a graduate of St. Agnes Episcopal School for Girls and the Stevens Women’s College. Grace was an Office Administrator for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Department of the Navy in Washington D.C. for over 35 years. She was a former member of the Schaghticoke O. E. S. and the Hoosick Falls Grange.

Survivors include her daughter Betsey Cartin of Melrose, several cousins and a life long friend David Schmidt also of Melrose.

Relatives and Friends may call from 11-12:00 noon on Friday (Jan. 15, 2009) at the Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main Street in Schaghticoke. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Cemetery Association (Oakwood Cemetery) 50 101st Street, Troy, NY 12180 in her memory.

So sorry to hear of the loss of you Mother . May all of your fond memories help you throught this difficult time. I still remember the wonderful Birthday party we had at Melrose fire house for her.
